Abstract
Electro-rheological fluid (ER Fluid) is a kind of functional fluid whose apparent viscoelastic properties are able to change by applying high voltage electric field. We made the ER fluid a rubber-shaped seat. That seat has the force attracting the electrode when a high voltage is applied by the electrode sandwiching the sheet. Then we named that sheet the Electro-Atractive Material (EAM). We have found a property of the EAM which can control the shear resistance occurring, between the electrode and the EAM, by the force attracting electrode. And we developed the EAM brake device, which can control its breaking force by the intensity of applied voltage, using that property of the EAM.
