Abstract
Wheel loading is one of the most serious problem on high efficiency grinding, creep feed grinding for difficult-to-grind material by using finer grain wheel. In this study, the grinding fluid is excited by ultrasonic oscillating effecter, which is set between fluid supplying nozzle and wheel. The performance was verified on general surface grinding machine with vitrified WA wheel. By grinding a pure titanium plate with conventional grinding fluid, severe loading caused drastic increase of grinding force, burned ground surface was obtained. On the other hand, the ultrasonic excited fluid generated good surface with uniform grinding force, and inhibit the temperature rise at the grinding point.
