Abstract
Tool wear inhibits high accuracy and high efficiency of a cutting process. In order to predict tool life and decide cutting conditions, the appropriate prediction of tool wear is necessary. With the aim to realize the reduction of cost and time to evaluate the tool wear, we have started the development of tool wear prediction techniques that utilize cutting simulation. We obtained fundamental results to increase the prediction accuracy of the flank wear for the conventional turning inserts.
