Abstract
Generally, the end surface of the optical connector is finished by free abrasive grain slurry. It is intended to provide a grinding method by a fixed abrasive pad capable of eliminating polishing processing. In this study, we created a thermoplastic resin bonded diamond grinding pad of 3,000 grain size and 100 degree of concentration to obtain basic machining performance. After dry-type processing an optical connecter for five minutes, the surface roughness of the optical fiber was measured to be less than 11 nm (Ra) and the coupling loss between optical connecters was measured as low as 1.03 dB.
