Abstract
In electrochemical machining, gas bubbles and temperature affect the conductivity of the electrolyte, affecting the current density on the surface of the work piece, resulting in inaccurate machining. The Bubbly Flow can be considered as a two-phase fluid flow model for calculating the volume fraction within the inter-electrode gap and Bruggemann equation can be used to calculate average conductivity (considering bubbles) from the volume fraction calculated. However, this equation is independent of bubble diameter and distribution of bubbles. So, this study is related to applicability of Bruggemann equation considering distribution of bubbles in simulation of sinking electrochemical machining.
