Abstract
In a grinding process, it is well known that, if grinding wheel surface shapes can be precisely measured, ground surface profile of the workpiece can be obtained as the copy principal. One of the measuring methods of surface profiles is a point autofocus profiling method by means of a laser probe. However, in this method, measuring objects have to be slowly moved in order to measure, so that it takes a long measuring time. From such a viewpoint, in this study, in order to measure the grinding wheel surface shape in faster measuring time, a new measuring method applying the point autofocus profiling method is proposed. From measured results, it is clarified that proposed measuring method can be used to precisely measure the grinding wheel surface shape which has been difficult to measure using the existing point autofocus profiling method by means of the laser probe.
