Abstract

The machining accuracy of simultaneous five-axis machining is strongly influenced by dynamic tracking errors of feed axes. Conventionally, the simulation method of dynamic tracking error was implemented through full-path simulation, because the dynamic tracking error of one command would be an accumulated influence of the former command. In this study, a partial simulation method of dynamic tracking errors is proposed. Through the method, the simulation of dynamic tracking error can be implemented focusing on the area where machining accuracy would be strongly influenced by dynamic tracking errors, instead of full-path simulation. In this study, a sphere machining test with simultaneous five-axis motion is simulated as an example. Through the comparison between the proposed partial simulation method and conventional full-path simulation, it can be indicated that the time consuming of tracking error calculation process can be saved by 95%, which can be considered as an efficient improvement in dynamic error simulation issue.
