Abstract

The final goal of this study is to develop a vision-based method for measuring machine tool 3D-dynamic motion errors. In this report, a measurement method is proposed, and the resolution and error range in plane motion measurement are discussed. The displacement of the light bulb installed on the spindle of the machine tool is obtained through the video captured by the high-speed camera. In order to obtain the displacement of the bulb, the center position of the marker is identified by fitting a quadratic function to capture the intensity peak of the marker. The measurement resolution and accuracy of the proposed method are investigated by experiments. In addition to the model fitting method, edge detection method and threshold detection method are also used for marker position detection and compared to model fitting method. In the plane motion experiment, the grid encoder is used as the reference, and the position detection error range for model fitting method is discussed.
