Abstract
In manufacturing, inspection is conducted to know if a process is under normal operating condition. However, the method is usually determined by the nature of the process or from the experience in the past, and in most cases, it is not rational from the economic viewpoint. In quality engineering, the optimum control method is determined by balancing the cost of control and the loss due to quality. The loss due to quality is the loss caused by the products which did not pass the inspection. In this study, an On-Line Quality Engineering method was applied to a color film inner packaging process. The optimum sampling interval was increased by four times, saving 22.5 million yen due to sample loss and 15 million yen by inspecting labor cost reduction.
