In this paper, the improvement of super heat-resisting property for liquid crystal polymer films (LCP films) was reported. Using the current heat-resistance improvement process, it takes 20hours to complete the treatment, and reaches a maximum heat resisting temperature of 300℃. The limit is not satisfactory to the customers, especially the ones in the U.S. A study was conducted to shorten the processing time as well as to increase the heat-resistance temperature to a lower level of 320℃. For the ideal function, film thickness and the temperature when the heat deformation starts must be linear. Such linear relationship is generated by the formation of a new micro-structure in liquid crystal polymer. After the heat treatment condition was optimized, the time of heat treatment was shortened by four to five hours and the heat resistance temperature was raised to a range between 320 to 400℃. Thus a super heat-resistance film was produced to withstand 400℃.
