Abstract
This paper presents a supplemental control chart for which enables the user to control both changes of the mean and the variance simultaneously for normally distributed characteristics. The simplified design of the proposed chart is done by applying directly the Patnaik's approximation to the sample data. The power of the proposed control chart is compaired with those of the likelihood ratio chart and x^^- - s charts.
