Abstract
This article introduces JSQC-Std “Guidelines for Small Group Improvement Activities” developed by the Japanese Society for Quality Control (JSQC) in 2015.
Small Group Improvement Activities are placed at the basses of Quality Ensurance, Policy Management and Daily Management, which are significant organizational initiatives within Total Quality Management( TQM). The success of Small Group Improvement Activities will impact the entire TQM greatly. However, a unified opinion on the concept and promotion method of this activity has not been established as an official standard. As such, organizations that implement this activity have been learning by trial and error.
This guideline gives the important concepts and promotion methods for team improvement activities and QC circle activities–activities that are the representative small group improvement activities for problemsolving and/or task-achievement conducted as part of TQM. This guideline is intended to be applicable for all organizations that engage in some sort of improvement activities and to contribute to the growth and the development of such organizations..
