A Reliable Monitoring Post for Measuring Environmental Ionizing Radiations; Construction with an Electronic Pocket Dosimeter (EPD) and a Solar Battery System

Abstract

We have constructed a reliable and inexpensive apparatus useful for measuring environmental ionizing radiations.
Electronic pocket dosimeter (EPD) “MYDOSE MINI E” (Model PDM-101 ; Aloka, Tokyo, Japan) was connected to a power supply made of solar batteries andNiCdbatteries. The apparatus was placed in a container made of acrylic board and was attached to a pole of 1 m long Using such apparatus (monitoring posts), we began to measure environmental ionizing radiations at three spots near Okayama city. Here, we describe technical specifications of the apparatus (The data obtained using these apparatus will be presented elsewhere) .
