Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing

―Research Activity Report on “Numerical Computation and Deep Learning Libraries Development on lab2022 Computers”―

Abstract

The author has been conducting, since April 2022, a “Hosei University RCCMS (Research Center for Computing and Multimedia Studies)” Research Project, entitled “Numerical Computation and Deep Learning Libraries Development on lab2022 Computers”. During the year 2023-2024, the author has tried to build an environment for artificial intelligence (AI) computations, with the final goal to integrate AI into high performance computing (HPC). In this article, the author explains separately the current statuses of the HPC and AI areas, discusses the possible future convergence of these two different areas, and briefly explains an example of AI computations.
