Although resource, environment, and time constraints are key determinants of our behavior, scholars in environmental economics and policy studies have not paid much attention to time constraints. However, it is expected that time allocation will also become an important research agenda item in environmental economics and policy studies. This paper first describes the relationship between individual time use and environmental burden based on a household production model. Then, choosing energy consumption and recycling activities as examples, it examines the relationship between time allocation and environmental burden of households. Finally, it summarizes the research agenda on time allocation and environmental load of households.
