An Approach of Local Revitalization by Arts Activity and Conditions of Artists Stay

A case study of Koganecho and its surrounding areas in Yokohama City

Abstract

This study aims to clarify artists' motivation for participation in arts activities and community interactions in order to revitalize depressed areas. We conducted questionnaire survey,interviews, and field survey in Koganecho and its surrounding areas in Yokohama. We showed the importance of community exchange and space creation to promote participation in arts activities.
