Abstract

This study discusses the current state and future issues of utilization of the sites implemented group relocation promotion projects for disaster mitigation in 26 municipalities of Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture. It clarifies that (1) municipalities bought most of land in zone to promote relocation, (2) the ratio of unutilized land within the sites implemented group relocation promotion project is high, (3) municipalities face with problems concerning maintenance of the unutilized land, and (4) concentration projects of unutilized land have not been implemented efficiently. This study points out the necessity to implement effective measures in a long-term perspective while considering the actual condition of the disaster-stricken areas.
