Nagasaki is a city which has many sloped urban areas, and it has implemented various unique programs of urban regeneration ahead of other cities in Japan. However, it faces the need for a paradigm shift in the era of decreasing population and aging society. In this study, planning policies and measures for sloped areas were reviewed and case studies were conducted for Ebira district and Iwasemichi-Tategami district that are designated as targeted districts in the city's regeneration project. Through the research, current status of the sloped areas and their treatment in the city's Location Normalization Plan is clarified.
