Abstract

This study aims to clarify the development in Yato residential area in Kamakura in the recent years and the change of its space configuration. Yato residential area is surrounded by hills and abundant in green which provides great residential environment. But, these days the increase of site division influences the space configuration of this area. This configuration is characterized by tall trees surrounding houses and the use of natural materials such as wooden fences and stone bases. Comparing the area where development has progressed with the area where it has not, there is a big difference in the proportion of green coverings and the use of natural materials. In addition, through the detailed analysis of the area where development has progressed, differences are seen for each newly built dwelling unit, and various types of external structure are mixed.
