Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the system for collecting building data on residential and commercial use through comparing the case of several foreign countries. It focuses on the building data from three points of view; (1) types of public organization, (2) purpose of collecting data and (3) contents and format of the data.The analysis of building data indicates that one of three types of public organization; (a) central governments, (b) states or prefectures or © basic local governments collects the data for the purpose of (x) revaluation of real property, (y) urban planning and (z) urban policies, based on the individual survey or the data from application forms.
