Abstract

There is growing need for regional point of view in the theory and practice of city planning because of widening social and economic activities, promotional consolidation of municipalities and decentralization movement. Therefore it will be important to provide an educational system in undergraduate school concerning wide-scale planning matters and relationship among planning system in different hierarchy. With these backgrounds, they have provided a studio program of regional planning since 2003 for undergraduate students in department of urban engineering, the University of Tokyo. This note summarizes and reports this regional planning studio including overall curriculum in the department.
