Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential of Hata-zeki, a historical weir at the Niyodo River of Kochi, as waterfront space. Activities of the visitors were observed one week day and one weekend day of spring, summer and fall. Spaces of the weir were also analyzed through simple survey of the site. The result shows key factors for accessibility to the weir, and its functions as circulatory space for visitors to cross the river and of diversifying water associated activities.
