Abstract

The purposes of this paper are (i) to empirically apply the heretofore proposed restricted randomization test for analyzing the increase in population in the vicinity of urban facilities, and (ii) to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the test from the empirical result. The main conclusions are as follows. First, when the test is repeatedly executed using several parameters, it is possible to appropriately avoid the multiple testing problem. Second, the test is useful not only as a method for confirmatory analysis, but also as a method for exploratory analysis. Third, the result of the test is stable to the fluctuation of the parameter required in the analysis. Fourth, there is a possibility that the test falsely determines whether there is significant decrease in population around urban facilities.
