This paper explores the vocabulary level of fifth-year students at Sendai National College of Technology (SNCT). The Nation‘s 1000 word level test was used and student's scores were compared with those of fifth-year students of Gunma National College of Technology (GNCT). Results show that the mean score of SNCT is higher than 28 and slightly better than the mean of GNCT students' scores. However, their scores are unsatisfactory because even second-year students can achieve higher scores on the same test. We should reconsider how to train third- and fourth-year students for steady growth in English capability.
