Abstract
Mechanisms of multi-electron transfer reactions for heteropolyanions have been reviewed. A brief explanation has been given for the recently reported simple and synergistic electron-withdrawing effects of the O atom due to heteroatom species XO4, which lead to potential inversion and thus to multi-electron transfer. Perfect simulation of cyclic voltammograms has been shown for Keggin-type polyoxotungstate anions in both neutral and acidified acetonitrile.
