The Polarographic behavior of osmium tetroxide in several electrolytes and buffers has been studied. Osmium(VIII) yields three waves in some media, the second step being less irreversible than the third. The irreversible character is supported by current-time curves and single sweep cyclic voltammograms. Rate constants are reported.
