Abstract
The purpose of this study was to suggest the adequate application of hydrocollator hot packs by comparing wet heat and dry heat.
We measured the temperature under 10 towels after 20 minutes hot pack application in two conditions. One is the dry hot pack and the other is the wet hot pack. We also measured the temperature under 3, 4 or 5 towels using the dry hot pack. We measured the skin temperature during the dry hot pack and the wet hot pack for 20 minutes and after removing it for 30 minutes with clothing which was assumed by 2 towels.
The results are as follows ; 1) The temperature under 10 towels with the wet hot pack was equivalent to that under 3 towels with the dry hot pack just before removing them. 2) The skin temperature after removing the wet hot pack on clothing was lowered than that after removing the dry hot pack.
We suggest that the wet hot pack should be applied without clothing and the dry hot pack should be applied with small number of towels.
