Abstract
Muscle weakness is the clinical symptom of polymyositis on the occasion of rehabilitation. The purpose of this case study was to report the effectiveness of a resistive exercise, and the management of physical activity for two patients with polymyositis. The initiation time of the resistive exercise was set at the time when the value of creation phosphokinase became stable in normal range or higher than it. Muscle strength and ambulatory function of the patients was improved, and the conditions of patients didn't become worse. In addition, after the discharge from hospital we measured patients' number of steps a day with a pedometer in the hospital, and instructed the appropriate daily extent of activity. The conditions of patients were stable under the instructions.
