Abstract
[Purpose] We report the case of a patient with cervical spinal cord injury who received intrathecal baclofen as physical therapy. [Results] The patient's Ashworth scale (mean) spasticity score was 3.0, and the transfer activity between bed and wheelchair was five points on the Functional Independence Measure before intrathecal baclofen treatment. Falls during transfer activity occurred three times a month. After two months of intrathecal baclofen treatment the patient's Ashworth scale (mean) was 2.0, the transfer activity score became six points, and no falls occured in the hospital. [Conclusion] Spasms were relieved by intrathecal baclofen treatment, which led to improvement of the transfer activity.
