Abstract
[Purpose] The learning effects of oncology case studies on students were examined. [Subjects and Methods] The study involved 31 students taking the <Simulated Patient-based Physical Therapy Training I> course. At the end of every training program, the students filled out a questionnaire, consisting of questions regarding the necessity of physical therapy for patients with limited life expectancy and willingness to make commitments to such patients. [Results] After oncology case studies, the rate of regarding physical therapy for patients with limited life expectancy as highly necessary increased to 58.1%. Similarly, the rate of being willing to make some commitments to them increased to 48.4%. [Conclusion] The students’ awareness of the necessity of physical therapy for cancer patients may have been enhanced through oncology case studies. Such studies may also contribute to physical therapy for cancer patients in the clinical setting.
