Mesenteric hernia is a rare disease and most of them result in strangulated obstruction. The present patient was a 9-year-old woman. Small bowel obstruction due to mesenteric hernia was caused by entrapment of bowel through a defect in the mesentery. We successfully treated the case of mesenteric hernia of the jejunum with resection of necrotic bowel and the patient could survive due to early surgical intervention. A correct preoperative diagnosis of strangulated internal hernia is difficult, because it begins with an abrupt onset and rarely occurs. An acute intestinal obstruction in a patient without particular history of previous surgical procedures should be suspected of a possible internal hernia. Once diagnosed internal hernia must be operated on as soon as possible.
