A case of breast cancer which was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma by preoperative needle aspiration biopsy cytology was experienced. A 36-year-old woman was found having an about 2×2 cm, elastic hard, and movable tumor in the region C in the left breast, Needle aspiration biopsy cytology revealed Class V (squamous cell carcinoma), and left radical mastectomy was carried out. Histopathologically a picture of ductal carcinoma mainly comprising of tubular components was revealed and squamous metaplasia was confirmed in a part of the glandular epithelium. The tumor cells had eosinophilic wide bullae and its nucleus was irregular. On transmission electron microscopy tonofilament-like convergence characteistic of squamous cell carcinoma and desmosome corresponding to intercellular bridge were found. Both estrogen and progesterous receptors were negative.
