Abstract
A 43-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of constipation and abdominal distention. From abdominal ultrasonography, enema, endoscopy of the large intestine, MRI, and angiography, some malignant disease such as sarcoma arising in the sigmoidal mesentery was suspected. Sigmoidectomy was carried out. Resected specimen revealed a diffuse infiltrating carcinoma.
Histopathologically it was squamous cell carcinoma arising in the sigmoid colon. Among of all colonic carcinomas, squamous cell carcinoma is very rare. Some notes on relevant literature are also presented here.
