Abstract
A case of mesenteric lymphangioma presenting with acute abdomen in an adult is reported. A 42-year-old man was admitted to a near hospital because of upper abdominal pain, and was referred to the hospital with the diagnosis of cholelithiasis. On admission, inflammatory findings including a WBC count of 13, 200 were shown. Abdominal urtrasonography revealed a multilocular cystic lesion which was seen under the gallbladder and in front of the right kidney. It was diaynosed as infected lymphangioma in the abdominal cavity. Surgery was performed after conservative therapy.
On laparotomy, a multilocular cystic mass was found in the tranverse mesocolon, and excised en blot. Histopathologic findings indicated mesenteric lymphangioma with inflamation. Mesenteric lymphangioma in adults is very rare disease, and its clinical characteristics were discussed in domestic cases.
