Abstract
Tubular adenomas of the breast are exceedingly rare and only 16 cases have been reported in Japan so far. This paper describes a recent experience with 4 cases of this disease. These 4 patients were all females, with an average age of 32.8 years ranging from 14 to 67. Of the 4 cases, 3 were preoperatively diagnosed as benign, tumors, but the remaining aged case was strongly suspected of cancer from various examinations. Of these 4 cases of tubular adenoma, 2 having tumor diameter of more than 2 cm received 201Tl-chloride scintigraphy, which indicated strong accumulation of this RI and was suggested to be effective for the differentiation of tubular adenomas from fibroadenomas. Tubular adenomas can be rather large, for that sometimes we have difficulties in the differential diagnosis from cancer. This disease may require careful attentions especially in aged patients.
