Abstract
A 70-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with discomfort of upper abdomen. A gallbladder polyp was found upon abdominal ultrasonography. Since the polyp grew larger, laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed. The postoperative pathological diagnosis was eraly-stage gallbladder cancer of depth mucosa. Postoperative course was uneventful, and there has been no recurrence up to now. Cholecystectomy has been hesitated for surgical stress so far. However, the advent of laparoscopic cholecystectomy permits us to apply it to early stage carcinomas with less surgical stress. Furthermore, the surgical procedure should be performed as total biopsy when lesions are small.
