Abstract
We experienced a rare case of splenic cyst with a high serum CA19-9 level (257U/ml). A 34-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of nausea and epigastric full sensation. Ultra sonography, CT and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a large splenic cyst (10×13×16cm) and no swollen lymph node. No abnormalities were present in other organs. Serum CA19-9 level was 257U/ml. Splenectomy was performed, because there existed gastrointestinal symptoms and a risk of rupture. The cyst disclosed central enlargement and was multiple so that the spleen could not be preserved. The cyst wall was histologically epidermoid cyst and immunohistochemical stainings of which showed CA19-9 and CEA positive. CA19-9 and CEA levels in the cyst fluid were 20×104U/ml and 28.6ng/ml, respectively. After the surgery, the elevated serum CA19-9 level normalized.
