Abstract
This paper deals with a case of solitary splenic metastasis following an operation for primary lung cancer, which was successfully resected in terms of splenectomy.
The patient was a 58-year-old man. Previous history included a right upper lobectomy+ND3α per median sternotomy for a lung cancer performed on March 25 1998, and an ipsilateral cervical dissection on May 1, when adenocarcinoma p-T1N3γM0 with a tumor marker of CEA was diagnosed. In November 1999 the tumor marker (CEA) started to increase, when a solitary low density area was revealed in the spleen on an abdominal CT scan. With a diagnosis of a solitary splenic metastasis of the lung cancer, a splenectomy was performed. Pathological confirmation was obtained.
