Abstract
A 54-year-old woman visited our hospital complaining of icterus and itching. Computed tomography showed a clearly demarcated pancreas head tumor with a diameter of 5 cm. The interior was not uniform. MRCP showed dilatation of both the common bile duct and pancreatic duct. Angiography revealed a tumor stain, but encasement was not detected. Histologic examination showed acinar and trabecular patterns which consisted of acidphilic tumor cells. Immunochemical staining of the cancer cells was positive for PAS, α1-antitrypsin, chromogranin and synaptophysin. The tumor was diagnosed as an acinar-endocrine cell tumor. The patient received chemotherapy after resection, but a solitary liver metastasis appeared 8 months after the operation. After positron therapy, the size of the tumor was not changed.
