Abstract

Twenty years has been passed since the riverine environmental protection and citizen participation were added to the River Law. There has been a lot of official and academic summaries and recommendations about river restoration and other environmental policies. However, there is no summary has been made for citizen participation besides few individual reports. In this study, we analyzed the progress of citizen participation and development of citizen-based river groups in relation to river environmental policies after revision of the River Law. We made literature review and state analysis through interviews and questionnaires to citizen based river groups as well as river managers.
