Abstract
This study investigated trends and issues in disaster management education in Japan. Specifically, a
quantitative and qualitative survey of the Disaster Management Education Challenge Plan case studies
was conducted to analyze trends in disaster education. As a result, it was found that disaster
management education in Japan has developed in response to the occurrence of disasters. Furthermore,
while various methods of disaster education have been developed in Japan, there is little practice in
examining and improving existing methods of disaster education.
