Abstract

The principal aims of this study were to clarify “team behaviors for inter-professional collaboration and cooperation” that the staff believed were necessary for terminal care in special nursing homes for the elderly and to develop an “inter-professional team process model for terminal care in special nursing homes for the elderly.” We examined “team behaviors” using previous studies. The results showed that “team behaviors” comprised 36 items. We then administered two questionnaire surveys to the staff of a special nursing home for the elderly using the Delphi method. Indicators representing consensus in all items were ≥4 in mean, median, and mode values. Consequently, “team behaviors” comprised 40 items. In addition, we created an inter-professional team process using these 40 items of “team behaviors.” This indicates that the presented model can be used in multiple occupations regardless of the size of the region or facility. This result suggests that the use of “team behaviors” promotes team functions and leads to better terminal care.
