Abstract

The flammability diagrams of chlorine trifluoride(CIF3),several flammable gases and nltrogen mixtures were inves- tigated experimentally.Tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS;Si(OC2H54),ammonia(NH3),hydrogen(H2)and methane(CH4) were used as flammable gases. These flammable gases were diluted with N2in a dilution vessel individually. Then each diluted gas was mixed with a diluted CIF3 gas,TEOS and NH3 were found to ignite spontaneously while being mixed with the diluted ClF3.H2 and CH4 could be mixed without spontaneous ignition. The flammability diagrams of these mixtures were determined. The reaction mechanisms of flammable gases and CIF3 were discussed from the flammable diagrams and heat of combustion.
