Trends in Research on Dementia Nursing Care in Japan: Analysis of Article Titles Using Text Mining

Abstract

This paper sought to clarify the research contents of studies on dementia nursing in Japan by text mining with use KH Coder of the title of the paper and to find the starting point for future research. We looked through the Japan Medical Abstract Society Ichushi Web database without specifying the issue year, for original articles containing words meaning dementia, in their titles and which were classified as nursing. We analyzed of the co-occurrent relationships of words with use of KH Coder.

In 2838 papers,the overall picture of the co-occurrence network consisted of 11 groups, and covered article titles on understanding and correspondence in the treatment scene, factors for continuing to live at home, support for family who are caregivers, effects of music therapy, daily life and living functions, evaluation, and issues of efforts at facilities, resolving difficult-to-handle symptoms and situations, review of literature, efforts to prevent falls, current status and issues, and effects of practical training for nursing students.

As the starting points of the research, it were suggested support for continuing to live at home, the viewpoint of hospital nurses, the dignity of elderly people with dementia, and verification of non-drug therapy.
