Abstract
Persons with diabetes carry many psychological burdens that are caused by fear of coma, complications from the disease, and the pressure of endless self-care and treatment. It is known that such psychological issues effect the development, progression, and mechanisms of diabetes. In this study, a series of interviews was conducted with a woman with diabetes. The purpose of this study is to examine how diabetes is integrated into one's life through the telling of the potential "tales" that appear in her stories, Sandplay, and drawings. The interview revealed that the woman's "tales" were disconnected, and that something uncanny existed in these potential "tales" that caused her to fear that her superficial/surface life story would become unstable. In sum, since the diabetic's potential "tales" are complex, it is important to regard them in a multilayered way.
