Abstract
This paper reports on the curative properties of the Collage technique. Specifically, the following three points are described : (1) Continual activities of collage can facilitate interactions between the conscious and the unconscious, which takes a spiral course in psychotherapy and leads to ego transformation (the disorganization of an old ego and the integration of a new ego), (2) In such a spiral course of psychotherapy, there may be found similarities and differences between a collage in the beginning and in the end (turning points), and (3) When psychotherapy takes a spiral course, the similarities and differences between the collage in the beginning and in the end also makes it possible for us to assess the mental state of a client and the psychotherapy process without conducting collage activities continuously.
