This study aimed to investigate developmental transitions in children from the perspective of the constructive type (CT) of the Landscape Montage Technique (LMT). From 2015-2018, the LMT was administered to 3,151 children (1,566 girls, 1,585 boys) from kindergarteners to high schoolers in the Tōkai region in Japan. All LMT drawings were rated using Takaishi’s CT classification added for the Undifferentiated Type. Data were analyzed based on relationships between the 8 types of CT and the 14 grades of the children. There were four turning points identified in current child development: ability to shape items (5-6 years old); to connect items (7-9 years old); to be self-aware (10-11 years old); and to improve composition consistency (13-14 years old).
