Verrucous carcinoma, a subtype of well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, is characterized by unusual behavior of slow growth, rare metastasis and radiation resistance.
Two cases of verrucous carcinoma were recently presented.
Case 1 : A 65-year-old woman complained irregular bleeding. A protruding tumor was detected in the cervix. The scraping smear showed suspicious of malignancy. After hysterctomy, there has so far been no sign of recurrence for seven years.
Case 2 : A 70-year-old woman complained of vaginal discharge and slight fever. Cytological examination was classified as class II, but laparotomy revealed cervical carcinoma as stage IV a. Oil-bleomycin therapy was performed locally to the tumor, but the patient died one year and eight months after the operation.
