Abstract

The heat quantity of about 63 per cent of the outside solar radiation becomes the effective heat source for drying the domestic leaf tobacco at a curing house with the trasparent roof and walls.
The whole house receives the heat quantity of the solar radiation as 1.57 times as that of the solar radiation at the horizontal floor area.
Instead of the integrated calculation of the incoming radiation through each walls, the author proposed a simple calculation method of the effective heat quantity for curing by drawing the hourly shade figures of the house and calculating the value; shade area×horizontal solar radiation×effective transmission coefficient.
The value of 0.52-0.63 was obtained as the rate of utilization of the effective heat quantity to cure raw tobacco leaf in the house.
This shows the curng house is effectitve enough as a type of the energy saving facilities.
