Abstract
We are now on the trajectory towards the next civilization called ’Society 5.0’ with ’Anthropocene’ which is strongly influenced by monetary economy. Despite their importance, the non-monetary side of individual, household and community-based economics, or ’life’-nomia, has been under-looked and underappreciated. Enhancing the quality of ’life’ may be achieved by appreciating the concept of ’life’, life as a continuous journey, life as a biological entity, and life through everyday living. But how can we bridge monetary economics with non-monetary aspects, i.e. the ’life’-nomia values? Here we propose the life economy of 3-life management by 4 economic areas: non-monetary, household or community, ethical market and unilateral economy, which crosses through 5 layers of industries: ecoservice-, material-, high touch-, governance- and high tech-nomics, meeting with life subsystems as ecological-, hard-, human-, soft-, and spiritual- subsystems. Each layer has its own hazards. The countervailing non-monetary aspects are incorporated within each layer as life-nomia. With that in mind, the theory is that individual/household/community units can contribute towards and create further positive impact on other areal units of economy on their well-being. Using this model, we can also contribute towards the ethical market movement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a way to the appropriate civilization.
